~*~*~*~ A tale of two students~*~*~*~

We've found ourselves at MID-TERM time for Carter & Mason already this year!!! They are attending a new school that is a Charter School & its much more academically focused and regimented. I'm pretty sure that "back when I was a kid" --- we did NOT have mid-terms! I think its a good idea for the students and parents though to give them an idea of where they are scholastically before it gets too bad or if they need extra time spent on a particular subject. That being said - we received two very different mid term reports from each of the boys & it just further solidified how independent they are from each other!
Mason. First Grade.
Mason loves going to school. He views it entirely as a social project. He loves making friends. He loves doing his homework as soon as he gets home each day. He can't wait for weekends to be over so he can get back to school. He has amazing enthusiasm for learning & growing. Last night at bedtime, he asked me...."Mom, is tomorrow Monday already?" I said, "Yes Mason it is and its back to school!" ... he replied to me "YES! I get to do more math projects!!!" His midterm report followed along those lines fairly close. His teacher (Mrs. Reese) said that even though he came in a little behind (as do most 1st year students) that his enthusiasm has helped him jump leaps & bounds in the last few weeks. Lets hope this sticks around for another 10 years!!!
Carter. Third Grade.
Carter tolerates school. He prefers to miss recess in order to have one on one time in the classroom with the teacher or aide. He's been that way since 1st grade! He would stand and talk to the teacher on duty. He struggles every day to remember what he's supposed to do. He will have one or two friends for a couple of days & then that will change. He would prefer to be around & socialize with grown ups any given day. He has an incredible ability to retain information and he is very very capapble. He's the token "if you'd apply yourself" kid. I'm 100% sure he will do good in school - it will probably always be a little bit of a struggle for him.

Jack & Charlie are enrolled in Daddy Daycare with Shane each day after he comes home from work. He's on the lookout for something different though. The hours that he has been working at the dairy are taking their toll. He goes in around 2:30 or 3:00 AM and is back by 8:00 AM each day. It works for us because we don't have to pay daycare on two toddlers, but the hours are terrible for family life. We'll see what can be changed in the next couple of weeks hopefully!

We are fully 100% in our new house & I love it to DEATH! (which might be literal) It is beautiful and ours and feels like a true home. I love being able to say for the first time in my adult life that I live in MY OWN house. In the past with renting or any other scenario - its always been.... I'm Jennifer ---I live in the so & so's house. But NOW. Now I just get to say that its our home that we built. So twenty years from now when some poverty stricken young newlyweds live in it ---- they'll say "We're the so & so's and we live in the old Reeves house!"

Life just keeps on turning and we're doing our best to keep up with it!
