Carter big BREAK

Poor kid! Last week - on ST. Patricks Day no less ---- I get THE DREADED PHONE CALL FROM SCHOOL. The secretary calls to tell me that Carter tripped up the cement steps on the way back in from recess and has most likely broken his nose!!! So I leave work to head out there & he is sitting in the nurses station laying back with an ice pack on his noggin and I can see blood all over his clothes & face.

NOT GOOD!!!!

He started crying when he saw me of course and I just had to keep reaffirming to him that he would be fine and that I would take care of him. It totally helped that he really likes our Pediatrician - Dr. Armstrong. Honestly --- this guy is fantastic! Older "grandpa" type guy who's probably been a Pediatrician forever.

So the verdict of course is that his nose was broken. The part that was equally as bad (as far as appearance goes) is that he had a huge gash up the whole front of his nose from the concrete. They can't do anything ... cast....cover UP .....for a broken nose. It just heals on its own. I was secretly hoping he could get one of those masks like they give NBA Players to help prevent future injury - but I guess he doesn't qualify!

I'm attaching some pictures of his "progress" so far. I'll post one later today - all of the swelling is gone and most of the gash has healed, scabbed and come off. YUMMY.

And so my crazy life with four little boys begins its medical journey ---- I'm SOOOOO excited!!!
